The cover is seperate than the book, has to be done early, and it's made out of cardboard.
My cover has a lot of graphics, year, name of the school, and the name of the book.
My theme is a fine mess
In the first page I see the table of contents and some more designs.
On the back end sheets I see more designs and the year.
I see the school's information like the address, phone, and fax. I also see candid photos of students.
spread is two pages side by side that work together.
Photos of students at different events with captions and an introduction to the yearbook's theme.
Divider page- divide sections from each other. 4 sections as it unfolds, in the works, deal with it, look again, . It has a whole theme page dedicated to the theme with photos and texts.

Last page-It shows pictures of students with a sentence generalizing their theme "a fine mess". There is also a blank page.

Colophon- describes how the yearbook was made, coming up with the theme, publishers, fonts involved, photographers.
Group photos of clubs and orginizations. index page. Baby photos of senior students. 251-400 (149)

Happy, Akins, Building

 

I think this a good example of my work because I got the student smiling and you can see Akins in the background.

 

Most of the students here at akins don't enjoy school or don't like Akins just in general so I thought this would be a good example of Akins

 

I think this is a good example of building because it shows the back of the Akins building very clear although it was taken through a window and you can see the lips that were on there.

Magazine Cover Types

1. Early Magazine Covers
 Mostly paintings. mostly about morals and ethics.
2.The Poster Cover
 Very few words, not designed to work with the photo. The photo is the most dominant piece. They would have a page number that you would go to. The picture has to be great, or the person or thing in the photo is someone/thing that everybody knows. Disadvantages:    It can be boring, doesn't tell you more about what's inside.


3.Pictures Married to Type
The words don't cover the important parts of the photo. The text work with the photo. Words relate directly to the photo on the cover and they tell us what we should see inside the magazine.  They work together and  help each other out.   Disadvantages: May not be visually appealingly enough to the massive. Not many points of entry.

4.In the Forest of Words
Lots and lots of words, organized in headline and sub-headline style. different sizes, different colors, different fonts. One major photo and one minor photo. The picture is not the most important element, the text can cover up part of the photo. It has multiple points of entry. Disadvantages: It's really cluttered. It takes away from the photo behind it.



Stuff that should be on my magazine cover: Title. Name for magazine. Photo, Date, Price.

Magazine cover ideas

1. Never trim a printout, mount it beautifully, and display it with its alternates on the finely polished surface of the conference-room table
2.If the cover pops out from its background,don't weaken it by fussing with it.
3.If its is invisible like wallpaper, decide what elements worthy of becoming dominant.
4.A magazine is first and foremost a physical product, so experiment with it as such and be sure to make the the most of its capabilities.
5.Make a cover that will make people want to look inside of your magazine

(April 1968)
The controversial April 1968 magazine cover depicting Muhammad Ali impaled by six arrows appeared on the heels of his refusal to be inducted into the U.S. Army because of his religious beliefs. (Ali, convicted violating the Selective Service Act, was barred from the ring and stripped of his title.) The cover, the second of three Esquire covers defending Ali, shows the boxer martyred as St. Sebastian, a patron saint of athletes and one who was shot with arrows for his steadfast religious beliefs. This was one of the covers designed by George Lois, Esquires Art Director during the 1960s.

Portrait and self-portrait tips and ideas

1) If you’ve got a remote trigger, that’s usually a better and more controllable than trying to use the self-timer.

2) Use a tripod. While it’s possible to get good photos while you’re hanging on to your camera at arms-length, it’s a lot easier if you’ve got the freedom to move around a bit.

3)  Have fun with it. Have confidence. Be yourself. Be creative. Whatever you do, have fun with it. That’s part of the point, after all.

semester 2 welcome back

I really liked this photo because of the lighting and the contrast. It's a really good photo and captures everything in one shot.

I liked this photo because it shows the background and whats going on, and it also shows the houses on the bottom. Really good shot of the background.

I liked this photo because it focuses on the wrestler and the black background makes you focus on the wrestler even more.

1.What was the best song of 2010? 6 foot 7 foot by lil' wayne ft cory gunz was my favorite song of 2010, the way they sampled the song day o by harry belafonte was really catchy and good.


2. What was the best movie of 2010? My favorite movie of 2010 was Banksy's exit through the gift shop. It documented street art and even created an artist in the making it's a great movie if you know it's one of Banksy's hoax.


3. What was the most important news story of the year? Arizona Passes Tough Anti Illegal Immigration Law, one of the biggest controversies in the U.S this year. It made you question if it was violating your rights, or if it was unconstitutional.

4.Who was the most important person of 2010? Mir-Hossein Mousavi the Iranian opposition leader was voted the most important person of 2010. Despite losing last year's presidential election or, as many Iranians believe, having it stolen from him .He has deftly marshaled his supporters into a political movement that has resisted numerous threats and crackdowns.

1. Tell me what is the one thing that happened on your holiday that you will remember? It can be a trip, a family visit, a present, something fun.
I got my cheeks pierced which was something I wanted to do since a while and I finally decided to do it.

2. What are your resolutions for the 2011 year?
Get good grades in school and graduate.

3. What are you looking forward to in 2011?
Graduation and summer.
